AI Commerce Audit vs Shopify's scanner.

As of 2026-05-24, Shopify's agentic-readiness scanner reads a single product page and won't score a Shopify store at all — it returns “you're set.” On a non-Shopify store it returns a low number next to a switch-to-Shopify pitch. We're the neutral, whole-store, five-surface diagnostic: we score every store — including the Shopify stores Shopify won't grade — across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Meta, and Microsoft Copilot, with 82 checks and a ranked, deep-linked fix list.

The honest read

What does Shopify's scanner actually do?

Tested live on 2026-05-24, Shopify's agentic-readiness scanner reads one product page and checks roughly nine schema signals — name, description, image, price, availability, variants, and ratings. On a Shopify URL it refuses to score and returns “you're set.” On a non-Shopify URL it returns a number beside a switch-to-Shopify pitch — in our test, Target scored 17/100. It does not check /llms.txt, /.well-known/ucp, your sitemap, or your policy pages, and it covers a single surface, not five.

HIGH

Single product page only

It reads one URL's JSON-LD. It can't tell you whether the rest of your catalog, your discovery files, or your policies are readable by an agent.

HIGH

Won't score Shopify stores

On-Shopify URLs get “you're set” — no number, no per-surface breakdown, nothing to act on. A confirmation, not a diagnosis.

CRITICAL

Non-Shopify output is a funnel

The only numeric scores it returns are for non-Shopify stores, paired with a switch-to-Shopify call to action — Target scored 17/100 in our 2026-05-24 test.

Their scanner answers “is this one product page marked up?” Ours answers “is this whole store ready to be picked by an agent, on every surface — and what do I fix first?”

FAQ

Common questions.

Doesn't Shopify already do this for free?
Not for your Shopify store. As of 2026-05-24, Shopify's scanner reads a single product page and returns "you're set" on on-Shopify URLs — no number, nothing ranked. It only outputs a score for non-Shopify stores, beside a switch-to-Shopify pitch. We score every store, whole-store, across five surfaces.
Is this just SEO?
No. SEO targets human search rankings; we score how agents read your store. We run 82 checks across discovery (/llms.txt, /.well-known/ucp, robots, sitemap), product schema, feed data, transaction readiness, and crawlable policies — the signals ChatGPT, Google, Perplexity, Meta, and Copilot use to pick and buy.
Does it work for my BigCommerce or WooCommerce store?
Yes. We score BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and Shopify on the same rubric. Shopify's scanner does the opposite for non-Shopify stores: it returns a low number beside a switch-to-Shopify pitch rather than a fix list. We give you ranked, deep-linked fixes for the platform you're on.
Will my score change next month?
It can, for two reasons. You fix flagged issues, or a spec moves. ACP, UCP, and the Stripe Agentic Commerce Suite ship dated releases; we re-pin our checks on each spec release, so a score can shift when the underlying requirements do. Shopify's scanner doesn't expose its spec version.
Is AI Commerce Audit neutral, or selling a platform?
Neutral. We don't sell a storefront, so we have no reason to grade you down to move you somewhere. We score the store you have. Shopify's scanner is run by a platform whose non-Shopify output is paired with a switch-to-Shopify call to action.
What does the report actually give me?
A per-surface score (ChatGPT, Google, Perplexity, Meta, Copilot) and a ranked fix list. Each failure deep-links to the exact admin path, theme file, or app that resolves it. Shopify's scanner returns a single-page schema read, not a ranked, deep-linked plan.

Audit my store.

Shopify's scanner tells you you're on Shopify. We tell you whether you're ready — on every surface, with fixes.
